This isnt really the kinda place I really make plans to go to, its def not a place for a special occassion, the normal food is kinda eh and the atmosphere is very loud usually with a lot of families and kids....but the bar pizza here is PRETTY DAMN GOOD. Whenever we're in the area I LOVE to stop here for a pie.
I have gone to Kinchley's since I was a tot. The Fradiavlo was good at one time. But since I have ventured into Thai food and other adventurous gastronomy, this no longer has it's appeal. The other food is not worth a look at.

Kinchleys was always my favorite for the thin crust pizza. I loved the Fradiablo (spicy), but that… Read more »
I seriously just don't get it. The pizza tastes like it's frozen out of a box. There's hardly any sauce, you can barely taste it. I don't get the lines...it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe b/c I grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island? This is just awful pizza. I've been there a bunch of times b/c my boyfriend grew up on it. I can deal with it but it in no way satisfies me. I do like their swedish meatballs even though the waitress did tell me that they are frozen. Check out Roxanne's down the street. Their kalamata olive pie is to die for!
Used to eat as a high school kid in Mahwah. The place is a time warp (this is a complement). I like old-style restaurants. More character and charm. Kinchley's will always work for me.
"Fabulous"? "Most Unbelievable in the world"?? Um...
It's good and I would eat it again, but certainly not one of the best I've had. I like both thick and thin crust, but this crust was crackery thin (too thin) and lacked in flavor. I think this also made the pizza feel very heavy. There wasn't enough bread to balance out the oil/cheese.
Overall it's a fun suburban dive kind of place with good pizza but it wouldn't make any "Best Of" lists in my book. If this is the best you've had, you are missing out on other great pizza places in the area.
The most unbelievable pizza in the world!! This stuff is seriously phenomenal. I have traveled all over the world and eaten my fare share of pizza and I can honestly say that nothing even comes near this stuff. The restaurant is small and in need of renovation, but when you've got pizza that good you could serve it on a dumpster and it would still be a hit.
Nellie's Place in Waldwick copied the pizza so its great there too, but you've gotta respect the originator. I heard some rumors back in the day about one of the kinchley's chefs going over to Nellie's or something like that. I'll have to do some investigatory journalism to find out the truth in this matter.

the pizza, as most of the other reviews say, is the main attraction here. it's good, thin crust pizza. one thing to watch out for is the onions. if you get onions on your pizza, prepare for it to be covered in an almost comically enormous amount of the topping. i also had the tomato mozarella salad and stuffed clams, both of which were tasty, but nothing really special.
i have no idea why people call this a dive bar...it is nowhere near as sketchy looking as a dive bar. it is actually quite comfortable, and i feel like it has a family sort of homey feel to it. nothing glamorous, but who needs glamorous when you're just drinking beer and eating pizza?

Very very good thin crust pizza. It can get really loud and crowded inside, and there's often a wait (but not really anywhere to stand), but soon you're sitting with friends and having a few beers, so it's not too much to handle til the pizza comes.
If you like thin crust pizza, you'll love Kinchley's -- as long as you don't mind eating your food in a dive bar atmosphere. It can get really busy at times, and the small bar area fills up quickly -- there's often nowhere to sit or stand comfortably while you wait or a table. I'd advise going around 3 in the afternoon to avoid this problem, but you can also make a reservation (which is kind of funny when you see what the place looks like). By the way, I see that 3 people on here have said they don't take reservations, but this is definitely not true.
We've also had garlic bread for an appetizer. It's really cheap and you get a lot of it, but it's the taste equivalent of day-old bread with garlic powder sprinkled on it. Also, if you're hungry, remember that this is thin crust pizza, so two slices aren't going to fill you up. Just get the large, it's only $1 more!
The previous reviewers nailed it--this is THE place to go for thin-crust pizza in the area. The building is somewhat small, the interior is cramped and when the place is busy, things can get slow ... but if you love thin-crust pizza, it's all worth putting up with.
I used to love going to Kinchley's when I used to work over in Upper Saddle River. I do miss the place, and once in a while go out of my way to get there, just for the pizza.

Simply the best thin crust pizza in NJ. I miss it very much. Perfect pizza.
Lack of 5 stars= cramped layout (renovations wouldn't kill them), the long wait that can build up in a restaurant with NO waiting areas, the tiny, uncomfortable Ladies Room, and the sometimes surly or ineffectual service.
(If anyone can recommend something that compares in Boston, I will be very grateful).

Fabulous pizza!! The restraunt itself is very tiny and very popular so you may feel a little cramped.... but..... it is sooooo worth it! If you like thin crust pizza you will love this place!! I especially love the meatball pizza! Hint: the pizza is really thin so it isn't very filling... order a lot of it!! I can eat a small one all by myself!

Maybe I'm missing something, but I've tried this place a couple times and thought it was AWFUL. Pizza's nothing special, and the rest of the food's disgusting. Service was awful, the wait was long, and the ambiance nonexistent. Try Roxanne's up the street next time.
